Zac Brown Band Records Opening Theme For NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Baseball’
Zac Brown Band will perform the opening segment for NBC’s Sunday Night Baseball coverage, which premiered on April 12.
The Grammy-winning southern rock group joins Carrie Underwood and Lenny Kravitz, who handle similar duties for NFL and NBA broadcasts respectively.
The band reimagined Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s “Karn Evil 9, 1st Impression Part 2” for their opening.
NBC Sports creative director Tripp Dixon chose the song because it features organ music and opens with “Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends.”
Brown expressed pride in the collaboration, saying it feels “humbling” to be mentioned alongside Underwood and Kravitz.
The opening was filmed in Milwaukee last month under a tight production schedule.
NBC’s three-year deal with MLB includes Sunday night games and playoff wild-card rounds.
